On Tuesday 29th April E J Wall held a very successful applique workshop at Alsager Library. She was extremely well prepared with everything that was needed to make an applique owl. Although we all started off with the same basic pattern and instructions the different choices of fabrics meant that our owls soon took on personalities of their own. Below are pictures of the work under construction. Tell me what you think.

Australian Embroiderers' Guild
I thought some of you might like to see some embroidery that is displayed in Busselton in Western Australia. It is on a jetty that has an underwater observatory and is a mini reef complete with fish.
Apologies for the poor picture quality but it was difficult to photo through the glass tank.

Tactile Books for ClearVision
At the last meeting the 5 tactile books that the members have produced were on display. Many thanks to all the embroiderers who took part in the project. The finished items are amazing, and after having the Braille wording added will be available to loan to visually impaired youngsters.

She also displayed some ecclesiastical work that had been commissioned and Hazel tried on a chasuble based on the parable of the sower and the seeds. This talk did not fall on stony ground and several of us signed up for Elizabeth's applique workshop on 29th April and hope to make our own owls.
