Tactile Books

The Alsager and District Branch of the Embroiderers' Guild meet regularly at Alsager Library on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 1.45 for a 2pm start.

The branch have recently embarked on a project to produce tactile books for the ClearVision library which supplies story ideas to young visually impaired children. This is a group venture with members each providing a page which will be made up into several books. Efforts are already underway but more volunteers would be welcome.

  1. Hi,
We're enjoying this project. We all got together and discussed what we are doing and started our individual pages. We're doing a seaside theme in my group. it's interesting as we have to make it child-friendly for partially-sighted or blind children so, no sharp bits or vague shapes. Every part of the page has to be easily recognisable. I'm looking forward to the January meeting when we get to look at the work so far.
